Seeing Beyond Middle Age

The macula is an area of the retina in the back of our eyes that contains a high concentration of light-sensitive cells. In addition to being right in the centre of our vision, the cells here provide much of our sharp focus abilities and colour recognition.

Macular degeneration is any of an array of diseases and disorders that cause these vision cells to malfunction. Science is now showing that many of these problems are preventable, in part at least, with proper lifestyle care and supplementation with micronutrients.

As studies related to macular degeneration and lifestyle factors are released, we'll feature them here.
